HSE allows Blended Learning.....
Changing times ahead:
In May 2016 the HSE and Awarding Organisations announced that computer based blended training is now allowed for all workplace first aid courses!
This is a big, however controversial, advancment for the First Aid industry, but how will it affect you, and what does it mean?
What is blended learning?
Blended learning is the name given to a course which is done part online and part with an instructor. The online parts can be done in segments or all in one go and usually teach you the theory side to first aid. Part two, with an instructor will go over your understanding from your online section as well all the practical elements, such as CPR, choking, bandaging etc.
What does it mean for businesses and individuals?
From now on anyone needing a workplace first aid course will have the option of using a blended route to complete their training. This means that you can cut the time spent in the 'classroom' with an instructor. For businesses this means that arranging cover for staff is less problematic.
What courses can be taken this way?
Emergency First Aid at Work - This is usually a full day course with an instructor (7 hours), however via blended learning you would spend 3 hours with an instructor after completing your online sections.
First Aid at Work - This is usually 3 full days with an instructor (18 hours), however via blended learning you would spend 2 days with an instructor after completing your online sections.
12 Hour Paediatric First Aid - This is usually 2 full days with an instructor (12 hours), however via blended learning you would spend 1 day with an instructor after completing your online sections.

Are the qualification/certifications the same as the usual methods of learning?
Yes. You will receive exactly the same certificate as those choosing the traditional method.
All courses are delivered, evaluated and quality assured to meet the new guidelines set out by the HSE in October 2013 and meet the requirements of the First Aid at Work (First Aid) regulations 1981 and subsequent 2016 changes.
All our first aid courses fully meet the UK and European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2015 as per the HSE requirements.
The content of this course has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines
